KRG deploying Starlink gateway terminals to bring high-speed internet access to Ungava Bay
In advance of connecting Ungava Bay communities to the high-speed, high-capacity EAUFON fibre-optic network within a couple of years, the KRG, through Tamaani Internet, is installing an interim solution to fast-track delivery of fast, reliable internet service.
Today, the KRG takes delivery of SpaceX gateway terminals for Kuujjuaq, and high performance Starlink terminals for Aupaluk, Kangiqsualujjuaq, Kangiqsujuaq, Kangirsuk, Quaqtaq and Tasiujaq. The terminals will provide internet users in these communities with seamless access to new bandwidth in early 2025 via Tamaani’s Fibre-to-the-Home network.
Already, the EAUFON subsea broadband system connects Nunavik communities on the Hudson Coast and Hudson Strait
to high-capacity, high-speed, fibre-optic internet.
